About this quote

John Irving’s profound words, "My life is a reading list," invite us to view our personal journeys not as a chaotic sequence of events, but as a thoughtfully curated library of experiences, lessons, and growth. Every person we meet, every challenge we overcome, and every quiet moment of reflection acts as a newly turned page, shaping the narrative of who we are becoming. Our days are defined by the stories we consume, the knowledge we gather, and the wisdom we internalize, transforming ordinary moments into a masterpiece of self-discovery. As you navigate the chapters of your own existence, remember that it is never too late to add a new genre, rewrite a difficult chapter, or recommend your journey to others. Life advice often urges us to find our purpose, but Irving’s perspective suggests that our purpose is continually being written through our curiosity and resilience. Embrace every bittersweet plot twist and joyful interlude as essential reading, knowing that your unique story is adding beauty and depth to the world's grand library.
