“Idiot.” “That fact is well established and adds nothing to the plot.” — Leigh Bardugo. We’ve all had those moments where our inner critic tries to take over, but remember that your mistakes don't define your entire story. How do you silence your inner critic when life gets messy? About this quote
We all have moments in life when self-doubt whispers—or sometimes shouts—that we aren't enough, labeling our mistakes and missteps with harsh words. But Leigh Bardugo’s witty retort reminds us to reclaim the narrative of our own lives. When past regrets or inner critics try to reduce us to our blunders, we can choose to recognize that those moments are merely background noise, not the defining theme of our story. Life is an unfolding novel, and every stumble is just a plot twist designed to build character, not a dead end. Instead of letting embarrassment or failure halt your progress, learn to dismiss the unproductive negativity that adds nothing to your personal growth. Embrace your quirky, imperfect journey with humor and grace, knowing that the best chapters are still waiting to be written.
